Entitled 10G Access Developments - Near Term Architectures & Future Evolution”, this ambitious, two-part presentation provides a broad overview of the effect that 10G will have on the consumer market and examines the opportunities for PON and DOCSIS to enhance operational models, spawn new business schemes (XaaS) and drive cost efficiencies into the business.

jeroen putzeysFeaturing presentations by UK based Regional Vice President David Keane-Mirajkar and VP Networks Sales & SE, EMEAI Jeroen Putzeys, based in Belgium, followed by a Q&A from the audience, the session aims to take an objective view as to how these Access Technologies can offer dual Technological and Business benefits to the Service Provider and outline the journey to achieve the desired goals.

This event is aimed at professionals in the broadband industry and will be streamed via the Zoom platform via registration in advance. The SCTE are encouraging attendees to get involved by asking questions both in advance and on the day. This is part of a series of monthly webinars hosted by the SCTE, Society for Broadband Professionals, set up in response to the pandemic as a way of reaching the broadband community and educating and informing the sector.

Dave KeaneDavid Keane-Mirajkar said, “As more traditional cable operators leverage the use of both PON and DOCSIS, I am often asked, will there be a clear winner?  There have been billions of pounds of investment in the last 3 decades and we believe there is still a lot that can be extracted with DOCSIS. DOCSIS and XGS-PON have their unique places in the access world with minimum overlap.”

“At CommScope we are keen to communicate this message to the industry and engage in some real debate on the subject, so we are delighted to be working with the SCTE on this webinar. It makes perfect sense,” he added.

Melissa Cogavin, Managing Editor at the SCTE said, “At the SCTE we take our role as agnostic educators very seriously and we can think of no one better to partner with on this particular topic. It’s especially compelling as this is the first of a two-part series so we have the opportunity to get into some real depth with CommScope, and we are sure this will be of considerable value to our members and the wider industry.”

Part I takes place on April 29 at 10am and registration needs to take place in advance. Part II will take place later in the year at a date and time to be confirmed.
