SCTE® announces virtual Summer Lecture: TECHNOLOGY, PROGRESS AND POSSIBILITIES
The SCTE® (Society for Broadband Professionals) returns with its ever-popular annual Summer Lecture on July 7, with an impressive array of speakers and topics.
Initially planned as a physical event at Mercedes-Benz World in Weybridge, Surrey, UK, the organizers took the decision to move it online due to the ongoing pandemic restrictions. Therefore, an afternoon of lectures and a Q&A session will now take place at 2pm on the SCTE’s own dedicated Zoom platform.
The Summer Lecture is the high point for the SCTE’s members and partners as part of its remit to educate and inform, and the themes this year focus on fibre and speed and DOCSIS 4.0 as well as a broad overview of the fibre roll out in 2021.
Our speakers include:
- Craig McMillan, EMEA Sales Engineering Director, CIENA, UK
- Mark Burns, HFC Architect, Access Network Strategy, Liberty Global UK
- Yvette Kanouff, Partner and CTO, J2C Ventures, USA
Craig McMillan will be focusing on fibre and speed, while Mark has a presentation concerning DOCSIS 4.0. Yvette’s contribution, coming from California, will be a more general conversation with moderator and SCTE Executive Committee member James Harwood about the industry, her achievements as well as a broad examination of emerging future trends.
Costas Kyriacou, Chair of the Lecture Committee leading this programme said, “Once again we are delighted to be fulfilling our commitment to educate and inform our members and the wider industry, this time bringing highly accomplished speakers from both sides of the Atlantic, all of whom are engaged in the most cutting-edge developments in our industry.”
Anthony Basham, President of the SCTE® said, “The SCTE’s long tradition of maintaining standards across the broadband and telecoms industries is exemplified in our annual Summer Lecture. While we will miss seeing our members and partners in person this year, we are confident that the content of the lectures we’ll be offering will be of the same consistently high quality our delegates have come to expect over the years, this time with an international flavour as well.”
There is no need to register in advance. The event is free of charge and places are unlimited. The event begins at 2pm on July 7 via this link:
The Society will return to the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham for its Annual General Meeting and Autumn Lecture on October 7, 2021.
